I don't know what it is or how to remove it. I had it today when I logged on to my work machine. I could not use Internet Explorer at all. I had to call corporate IT. The help desk couldn't remove it using the software on my work lap top. They had to pass it up to another guy. He was able to get it off. Took a couple hours though. Good luck.
1) reboot computrer in safe mode (F8 during start-up)
2) opened IE and downloaded a current version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (version I had on the computer didn't want to update for some reason)
3) ran it though the second option (not the quick scan but the next one)
Found 45 infected objects and removed them.
Restart went fine and as said it seems to be working again.
When it comes to spyware and malware, I always recommend first going to the OS website, in this case, Microsoft. The reason behind this is that, even with Google, there are ways of tricking their search engine to point to what appear to be legit solutions... Remember the saying, "There is no honor among thieves"? Well, hackers and spammers, pretty much the same.
I found the links to the above url through microsoft.com
