We, unfortunately had to take another business to small claims court. I did the paper work, had the parties served, did everything I was supposed to. The other party blew it off so they lose by default. SImple right? Nope.

We wait and wait and wait for a response from the court. We call and get told they will get back to us, which never happens. It so happens that my voting place is right next door to the court so I mosey in after doing my civic duty. I then find out after waiting for 15 minutes that our case has the dubious distinction of being the first file lost in the history of the Page court.

I get to have fun doing the paper work again so THEY can recreate the file. At least everything stands so when I get stuff done it will all be retroactively dated.

Not terrible, but definitely an annoyance.

But the depressing part is that after you go to all that trouble and get a judgement, the chances of collecting are slim and none, and Slim doesn't live here anymore.
But good luck anyway.

True, a judgement does not mean I get paid unless a person gets as mad as me and takes the next step which goes the way of garnishment, liens etc. He will pay.
