I have searched through the archives regarding turning a gavel. There was beautiful work shown - all out of various types of wood.

I would like to cast blanks for a gavel. It has been several years since I have cast anything. My choice back then was poly resin. There are many other choices now - alumilite, liquid diamonds, etc.

Do folks have any recommendations for casting the parts of a gavel? The gavel will be used, but not abused.

Thank you.

Do not use Liquid Diamonds. That is not a block casting resin. I use Silmar41 resin. Works well. I have no idea about all the alumilite varieties. Alot depends on how large and how you want to make it. Do you want all resin or combination of resin and wood.
