Gatsby Walnut

This is a PSI Gatsby pen in chrome and gunmetal, that I purchased from Rockler. The wood is some walnut that was given to me by the son of a lady at work. He works in a cabinet shop. I made the pen for him and engraved it to thank him. The finish is Pens Plus.

I engraved it with my NEJE laser engraver. I'm finally starting to get the hang of engraving wood.

The three "chunks" are from a wine barrel. Matt said there are nails in them, so I'll use a handheld metal detector to find the nails.

I love it so far. It has a steep learning curve (for me, anyway), but it's a lot of fun. There are rotary jigs available for it, so you can engrave around a pen instead of just in a straight line. I'm seriously thinking about getting one. There is a Facebook group for NEJE lasers.

Thanks for the info. I will definitely look into it. Before I sent you the question about how you liked it, I searched NEJE Laser, and at first glance, the prices seem to be reasonable, but before I went further, I thought I would ask if you actually liked it, before I spent a lot of time looking into it. Appreciate the tip!
