Threw a belt on my lathe yesterday and had no spare on hand. Of course it was a Saturday and the only shops open were the local big box stores, so no luck there. Resorted to ordering a couple on line from GPW on the Gold Coast (pity as I was only in his shop a couple of weeks ago after a lazy 14 hour drive). Anyway, what else was I to do as I had freed up the whole weekend for pens (as one does), so I decided to prepare a few extra blank of various styles and varieties while I wait for the postman to deliver that circle of rubber I require. Hopefully it won't be too long. Think this lot will keep me out of mischief for a little while.

Good lookin' way to spend the day Brett!! We should all be so lucky!! Did you make those or buy 'em? I'm drawn to the yellow about in the middle. You'll be set for a day or two!

Still in my infancy in regards to turning and whilst i've been jumping into everything, making my own acrylic blanks is one my list of to-dos. I've just ordered a litre tin, so will be time for experimenting soon.

I always keep a spare belt. What an excellent way to fill in some time, I see you have some GPW blanks all ready to go.
Good luck with them.
Bob.

Thanks Bob.Yes, I visited GPW a couple of weeks ago and went nuts buying a varied selection. i've also ordered a couple of spare belts at the same time.

Brett,

There are a number of Automotive 7 days open stores with a wide range of belts simply take your old one in a scour their stock.

I too live here and yes I use these places for belts. Start with SUPERCHEAP.

Kind regards Peter.

You didn't say what type of belt your lathe uses, but if it is a V-belt, you might be able to locate one close enough to get by on at a local auto parts store.

Tried that Peter. No go. Have to wait for Carbatec to get back to me or if they get their phones fixed.
