Oh..., I'm so bloody jealous...!
Man, I would give a couple of inches, to have one of those mills ...!
As for the decorations "technique", and while quite doable that way, I would be using a router and an extension harm attached to the piece centre, done that a few times, not only because I didn't have a lathe big enough to handle the chunks that needed done but the shear weight of those slabs so, everything was done on the ground/horizontal/floor, position...! very simple to do and very effective...!
The Cedar is a beautiful wood and I wish I had it here as commonly as you guys out there, he have some Cedar trees but they are in cemeteries or in people properties/gardens as wind breakers and decoration trees as they don't grow tall but wide (bushy) so, no logs/slabs of such length...!:frown:
I can see also that you did a good prep. set-up for the location, protection and access to the new mill, great job there, I'm nearly inclined to ask you much you spent with it all but, I may be giving you nasty flash-backs from the whole adventure, that you may no want to re-live, I would understand that too...!
Congrats...!
PS: Great looking working you done with that wood...!:biggrin:
Cheers
George
