OK, I admit it. I'm a Fox News junkie. I also have Dish. I have been going through major withdrawal since Dish dropped Fox over a contract dispute a couple of weeks ago. CNN, MSNBC and other news outlets just don't cut it.
Anyone have any insight on who holds the higher moral ground in their dispute? I'm on the verge of dropping Dish and going elsewhere if their dispute is not resolved soon.

Dish customer service people could use a lesson on dealing with customers. In mid November I had one argue with me, finally I said fine, my service is paid up to 12-01, cancel it effective 11-30. I went back to the local cable service.

Fox, like the other fulltime "news" channels" are too much opinion, not enough facts. They are more about ratings and entertainment than they about reporting the news. I could careless about their "experts" that are paid to express their opinions, I want to know what happened, not listen to 55 minutes out of an hour of why they think it happened.
 
You are right on on your opinion point, dogcatcher. I should modify my OP to say I like Fox News in the AM and the evening news with Bret Baier. I'm also guilty of watching "The Five" (it's my soap opera), and occasionally "Outnumbered" ( eye candy). The rest, I agree, are biased.
 
Dish, Direct, ATT UVerse, Comcast in our area plus a few smaller local providers have all done it with some Network. I have Uverse and so far their disputes haven't bothered me. We also have Dish because my wife insist on watching East Enders on Sunday, and the following Thursday. It cost $50 a month as you have to have a package and then this is $3.99 extra a month. I would do Snoopy dance it the provider and Dish had a dispute and cut it off. The is alway some issue with the signal because of trees or bad cable connection every 6 months something. I know happy wife, happy life. Now that UVerse carries RFDTV I have no use for Dish. Like to watch the old train show and some of the other tractor programs but now I have no use for dish.
 
Dish subscriber and Fox preferer. I've written to both expressing my displeasure over the prolonged squabble. Frankly I can see validity on both sides of the argument as well as pettiness. It's time for both to stop acting like schoolyard children and resolve this for all of us that actually pay the bills.
 
Dish had trouble negotiating with CBS a while back and I called and raised He** as I got transferred up the personnel ladder. Previously they had lost the Turner Network channels for several weeks so I demanded a credit for lost viewing time and all they offered was $5. Anyway, I informed them that I would not pay my bill if they cut off CBS. I must not have been the only one as they completed their negotiations successfully. ATT Universe is not available in my zip code and Comcast/Xfinity is the robber baron locally. I think they pay off the County government to get their "robber baron" rates approved. I don't find Fox a loss at any time for news, but with their next channel cutoff, my payment will be cutoff!
 
Dish, Direct, Att, Comcast they all do it just part of the bargaining process. one side wants to make money the other wants to save money. Kinda sound like the Politicians doesn't it? I watch the Local news and a couple Fox programs and the rest forget it. Don't watch much network TV either mainly the Cable networks as they carry the programs that interest me. Never seen the Voice, Idol or the supposed comedies. Haven't seen Duck Dynasty either. But I am old and would rather watch Documentaries and Car and DIY shows, maybe Roy Rogers and old westerns on RFDTV.
 
I want to cut the dish bill out all the way. I have a program called xbmc that will let me watch everything on tv. Just have to work on getting ways to watch live sports and then the wife may let me cancel it.

I run xbmc on a pc connected to the tv in the living room. I also purchased a couple of android sticks and working on getting them set up on the kids tv's.
 
On a side note.....I didn't even miss CNN/PMSNBC! Fox has what, two channels on Dish?

I watch the Weather, some of the stuff on Pursuit, Outdoor....and then it's usually background noise for the wife to enjoy.




Remember when you had three, maybe four channels, and didn't have to pay a monthly bill. Water was free right out of the sink(and tasted halfway good)...now it could be as high as $17/gal if you 'buy it' from a gas station!

I catch my self watching the Spanish weather channel :cool:
 
I don't know if this would help you or not, so I will toss it out just in case. The audio only feed of Fox News is put out on SiriusXM satellite radio. SiriusXM had their squabble with Fox News about three years ago, and so many subscribers were upset that they put Fox News back on. I am not sure if it comes with their satellite only package or if it can be brought in streaming through the internet. I have Sirius in my vehicle and its really nice to switch to a station when important breaking news is occurring. If you decide to pursue this route, be sure and ask them for their best deal for a first time subscriber. While they would like to get full price from you, they do have various bargains that REALLY can bring the rate down for a few months.

I like Sirius when we travel because when driving between Sacramento and Boise there isn't much AM/FM radio out there. Installed it in our Expedition and it came with wife's Mini.
 
Depending on where you live you may be able to get it over the air. I tried that when I moved here 12 years ago and got 16 channels so when the cable companies came calling I told them to stuff it. When the US and Canada went digital my channel # jumped to 36 most in high def. My son recently moved in the Windsor area and the cable has not been disconnected from the previous owner yet, my over the air quality is better than he gets on cable. If you are in an area that is "owned" by the cable companies and doesn't allow antennas check with a pair of rabbit ears, if you can get anything try one of those antennas designed for trailer parks that look like a small saucer. I used one of those for years when I lived in Oshawa, ON and got about 8 channels which is more than I needed considering they all have the same junk just different times.
 
I sent Dish a message asking them to remove the CNN, OWN, and any other libtard commie stuff from my subscription and send the funds to Fox to help. I still haven't heard from them....
