I do not have a lot of experience in using a fountain pen and am having a little issue. I recently switched out the nib of a jr majestic and replaced it with a #5 bock nib. The pen worked very well, however, I did not use the pen for a week and it seemed to have dried out. I flushed it out with water and have it working again with the exception of one issue. The ink flow is now slow to start if there is a pause in writing. Any suggestions?

Hi Cody - Did you leave it with the cap off or did it dry up with the cap on the pen? Just curious.

Did you remove both the nib and feed when you cleaned out the dried ink? If you did, are they both replaced correctly? (good contact between nib and feed, good alignment of the feed with the nib).

If you didn't remove the nib / feed and just flushed with a converter there may still be something clogging things.

The cap was on but not tight. I only removed the nib not nib and feed. I am using Parker Quink ink with a pump. I used tap water not purified water. I will go back and flush it again using purified water and removing the feed. Thanks for your feedback.

Yeah removing and cleaning the feed really helps. Especially if the ink dried out bc there could be dried ink buildup as well as gunk from the water. I personally find Parker Quink to dry out very easily. Same with Private Reserve. My favorite line of inks these days is the Pilot Iroshizuku line. It's a very lubricated ink and I've had pens sit unused for a couple of weeks and they start right up.
