Hello gang,
I don't have much experience with using fountain pens. I see there are different nibs available for fountain pens, my question.. are they universal, or is there something specific for each pen out there?

I made myself a vertex fountain pen from psi, I love it, but wish it had a finer point, or with what research i've done, a "wet noodle" but im just not sure if i can buy a fine point nib or the other and put it on my pen.

I'm no fountain pen expert. I do know that a JR kit uses a #5 and the larger kits like the El Grande/Churchill use a #6. Both of these size nibs are easy to come by at Meisternibs.com, Goldennib.com and Heritance.com ..forgive me if some of my dot com's are not exactly correct in name. You can get the nibs in broad, medium and fine or have them ground to new specs, and they can be flex steel or 14 or 18K depends on the vendor and price you wish to spend.

So...pull the nib from the vertex and stick a JR nib in there..does it fit right? Is it the same size? If so..you now know it's a #5. I am almost certain that all JR kits, CSUSA, PSI, Berea, use the same nib size.
