I just had a guy ask me could I make a fountain click pen. I knew that if it could be done someone here would have already figured out how. I have an idea but it is far from ordinary and might require a bit of destroying the box thinking.

Anyone want to try and tackle the idea? I know this bunch like a good challenge.

Sorry, Phil, but my response to this is just like Don Johnson said to Kevin Costner in the move "Tin Cup", when Costner asked if DJ had ever parred the back nine of a golf course with only a 7 iron.

Johnson's answer was " h**L, Roy, It never occured to me to even try that".

Fountain pens are messier that a thin soup sandwich, IN THE BEST OF CIRCUMSTANCES! I can't even fathom trying to to toss a yet unproven "click" mechanism into this senerio.

Respectfully submitted....and good luck. IMHO, this is a disaster waiting to be named after you.

Pilot/Namiki of Japan has been making the "Vanishing Point" fountain pen (button actuated "click" fountain pen) since the 1960's, it is very popular, extremely reliable, and writes very well. The normal ones retail for approximately $195 with the limited editions around $350. They still hold the patents and go after anyone and everyone who infringes on them, so I do not think that the pen kit manufacturers would risk that.

Bruce was the one that did it. A spring loaded trap door is the key. Not terribly difficult to do in theory, but making room for the fat feeds we have available is the challenge.
