Found a 9" southbend metal lathe for an absolute steal. My shop, unfortunately, is already busting at the seams.

Yea I wanna keep the wood lathe for bowls and other stuff, that's the main issue. If I only made pens I think it would be a no brainer!

Before I got my wood lathe, I used my metal lathe for pens, twig pots, bowls, tea lights, etc. Rigged up a tool rest and it worked great. The problem is you need to keep the ways clean and oiled - shavings and sanding dust make a sticky mess that is not good for the machine and a problem to keep clean.

Old metal lathes can have a lot of "hidden" issues, if you know an experienced machinist I would have them look at it before you buy it.
