The base of the antler was difficult and needed to be filled because of the pithy fiber. The skin was tough, however.

I totally agree with this. The blank on the black enamel is my favorite and this is one of the few blanks that I think would go well with the antique brass platting.

I like the idea of the antique brass as well. I still have enough to try it. Need to make a trip to Woodcraft tomorrow, since I am only looking for one.

The one in black was very pithy, I really had to work with it. Lots of brass and hot glue. Heh, heh, heh. Now it is a HEAVY antler pen.
