I've been paying for professional stabilizing services since I became disenfranchised with using poly or dissolved plexiglass. But I am very intrigued by Curtis' Cactus Juice and system. However, before I can justify the expense I would like to try a few blanks that have been done with it. So here is my trade offer:

I will send you 20 spalted Maple blanks. Stabilize 10 of them and send them back to me, and you can do what you wish with the other 10. Is that fair?

Billy,

I will do some samples for you for free if you want. I do this commonly. As you know, I don't even want any of the blanks since I don't do anything that is not Texas.

If I don't get any bites, I'll take you up on it, Curtis. My way everybody wins. And I have more than enough spalted Maple to do me! Mottled, black line, both...

What about Lost Maples State Natural Area?

Yep, there is some out there and I actually have a good friend who I built a house for that has a ranch not far from there with Maples on it. I have been out there a few times and picked up wood but there is not much of it. Being quite uncommon, they tend to protect their Maples and no one cuts them down.

Funny Maples are a dime a dozen,I get 20 calls for maple logs before I get one for walnut/cherry.So when I buy a maple log it has to be nearly perfect or have something special to it.I wish the maples around me would do more burls/curly/birds eye and so on.Oh and I need one of these units very soon been stashing wood for it.Victor
