Its not real pretty and I pretty much copied your first tutorial set up. The rectifier was given to me by a friend that doesnt use it any more. The small tubs of lye and acid sit in tubs with lids. I have arm length gloves that are rated for this. And a simple system for storing different dyes. Ambient tempeture in my shop is 80+ so I dont heat the solutions just let them soak. The aluminum bar used as the anode across the top lets me just clamp the wires right to it I can slide things around as needed. I use grade 2 titanium wire, (hanging in the first picture). I used a roof flashing for pipes I bought a Lowes. I cut it into 4 pieces for the cathodes.
I have a hot plate to heat the water and use doggy water dishes we picked up at garage sales for that. I have 2 qts of each color, adding 1 oz of dye to 2 qts of deionized water.

dog bowls.... brilliant. wish i had thought of that before pinching a saucepan.

Thats quite a collection of dyes you have going there. are they pro dyes or clothes dyes? the argument on this is that pro dyes are less prone to light fading (lightfast properties) , though how important this is with pens as they are not exactly left in the sun is questionable. The blue/green result you have had certainly looks solid enough.

just a tip but may want to grab a cheap PH meter to keep a check on your dyes. they should be slightly acidic at around 5.5PH to keep them in good nick.

Hope you have a fan on the go there too... the fumes are corrosive, dont be breathing them all the time. would hate for a health issue to arise in the future as a result of it! would feel guilty

Great setup Mike, im sure it will keep you all entertained for quite some time

Ah Caswell. I keep eyeing up their powder coating gear. they have some interesting finishes. and the spray systems are a cheap price too.

Quite a range of dyes they are offering and great looking prices too

Mike, I was looking at what you keep your dyes in. That confirms what I've suspected all along. You drink WAY too much coffee:biggrin:
