Curly maple, food color, ca finish. Thought I would give it a try. What do ya think?

good idea. I'm glad to see that worked. I have the materials, just haven't tried it yet. I like the results... I like the green one a lot.
 
Those look great! I absolutely love the look of dyed curly maple.

Jeremy, I've mixed food colors with some success. Using the red and yellow vials, I was able to dye a piece of maple a very cool shade of orange. I agree, though, that if you aren't careful, it can get dark and out of control.

I thought my Crystal Lite was the only food stuff tried for coloring. Glad to see someone else thinking outside the box. Yours worked better than mine.
 
The trick to mixing the colors is to use the lighter as the base and add very little darker color , just enough to tint the lighter color . I've made orange , purple and a really great Blue/green kinda like a teal with a green tint .
