I sincerely pray that if any of you have gotten this years version of the flu that it doesn't hang on for you like it has for me. Almost a month after getting it, I'm still not completely up to snuff and neither is my wife who actually got it 2 days before I did.

Hey Leroy,
My ife and I and kids and grandkids have all had it and it has been rough. Been a month since I have been in the shop. Hope you get over it soon. We still have a nasty cough.

My wife and I both got Flu shots this year and we still caught it when we visited our daughter and her family in Spokane for Christmas. It was like a gift that kept on giving. Like you said, it takes almost three weeks to get rid of all the symptoms. Really rotten bug this year.

Get well soon.

Jim Smith

Christmas Eve and not until last week did I feel ALMOST normal, still taking meds and coughing half the night.

Sounds like a lot of us have a "shared" experience. My wife and I noted that this year seems to be no respector of the shots. Most of the people we associate with are seniors who did get the shots and virtually all of them have still gotten it.

Please ad my 92 year old sister-in-law, Ruth Smith to your prayers - they say she has pneumonia but my guess is it's the flu. They thought I had pneumonia (or the flu or congestive heart failure) too.

I got the flu shot two weeks ago and am having terrible cold like symptoms. The day after my face was red flush all day and mostly flush the next day. I guess I was allergic to the shot. LOML got the shot 6 weeks ago and 2 weeks ago she got the flu - different strain I guess.

I do some security work at the local hospital and it has been bad this year. many sick young and old..
Get well soon Smitty............

I hate that your sick but thats what happens when you kiss a pretty lady that has the flu:rolleyes:

I feel for you Smitty... Knock on green wood (two raps to the side of my head), but I've never had the flu. I even missed my normal winter cold this past Christmas... 'course now that I live out in the country and don't go around people much it probably helps.... we did take the flu shot this year, first time in about 15 years.... the company I worked at last insisted we (office staff) take a flu shot every year and made arrangements for a local clinic to come in and give them in the office.... I would get a fever and all achy for a day or two afterwards, reaction to the shot, but no flu... but after a while, I would just find somewhere else to be on the day of the shots... had to go to the docks or airport or some "important" meeting and would skip... chicken I guess... but this year, Dr. Dianne (LOML) insisted we needed them... so....

Take care, keep warm and get well.

Wow, hope you guys get to feeling better soon. My wife, oldest son and I all three got it and it held on to each of us for a week and a half. I usually just let the flu run its course but many people in this area have gone to the doctor to get some meds and it's help them kick it a little quicker. Good luck.

I got the flu a couple weeks ago and I'm only now feeling relatively normal. I'm still battling the cough though. I agree, this year's flu strain is really nasty.

Seems to be hitting the older generation harder than the younger. My son had it last week. 7 days quarantined to a back room. He is ten but was fine with it. He had books on tape, movies on a lap top, and a doc who prescribed codine to help him sleep. I think the codine was a huge help. He did like how it made him feel but it forced him to sleep, albeit with a stupid smile on his face. Seven days and he was good to go back to school but he is still a little sluggish. Wife started getting a small taste last week, we will see what happens. Her temp went away and I have been sleeping alone hiding from the bug.

Knock on fake wood it has missed me.

Looks like I am the latest victim. It hit me and my wife Monday. She has it worse can't talk. Took her to walk-in clinic, they tested and she has type A flu. They prescribed Tamiflu That stuff is expensive w/o ins. $120.00 for 10 pills 2 x day for 5 days w/ins. still cost me $55.00.

We got a flu shot also in late September. Doc. said it would have been a lot worse if we didn't get shot. So I guess I join the crowd laid up sick for a bit.

Seems to be whatever the traffic will bear. I paid $99.90 but my doctor got it for his son and he paid $196....

Hope both of you get better soon. Everyone Ive heard of getting it takes two to three weeks to get over it. Flu shots are not available in my area. Everyone is out.

They don't help a lot anyway ---- most people I know who have gotten this flu have had the shots.
