Wow! John your box elder bowl is gorgeous!!! I really love box elder turnings but, regrettably, have never had an opportunity to turn one... Is it hard and difficult to turn or??? The striking color always amazes me and I'm looking forward to turning some soon! Thanks for sharing and safe turning to you!

FBE is like the ERC of the hardwood world! The striking coloring is amazing!

What prompted the Shellawax for the finish? I like it....

Thanks for all of the comments.

No issues turning.

Had the Shellawax near the lathe and decided to try it on this bowl. I really like how it turned out.

very nice bowl! did you turn it when it was still green? if so how long did you wait for it to dry?

i just got in a couple of bowl blanks in.....one of the blanks is box elder with some serious flames in it. i hope to turn it this week partially and then let dry for a couple months to finish turning in.
