Fishing rod

A couple of grips for fishing rods, segmented grips, one of maple and walnut, with a dyed black veneer. The other in purpleheart and maple, with aluminum accents. Fun project, I really like this pattern on a rod, almost looks like fish scales.

Beautiful work, especially on the segmented rod handle! Do you find that they are heavier and/or more slippery than traditional cork handles?

Very nice. Built custom rods for 8 years. Found my niche but quit as I didn't retire for another full time job.

I used a lacquer, but have been playing with an automotive clear coat that looks promising.
