This is made from local cherry and walnut. I will be making more of these with different woods and techniques. This one utilizes splined miter joints.

It's certainly not perfect but I'm happy enough for a first try.

Box looks great. I am working on 7 Jr gents right now, 2 of them are going to be almost identical to 2 of yours... Black ash burl and curly Koa?

One small suggestion for the splines on your next version. Consider moving them so that they divide the box in thirds, or add an additional one (might be too much) to break up the area between them. My eyes get drawn to the spacing between there instead of the beautiful pens.

It's a great case. I love the gradient in the walnut lid changes to nearly the same color as the cherry, really helps tie it into the piece. I have some cherry waiting to be cut down and might have to make one just like it.

Thanks for posting!

I had to have the lid one where it was Good thought on the bottom. I wanted to have the reinforcement of the spline too and bottom of main box. I think kidding another maybe that you suggested would be good.

Thanks.
