Well heading out tomorrow to my buddies sawmill(good to have a good friend with a sawmill and a yard full of logs)for the first time this year and the first time in three months. It has been to long since I sliced up a stick of wood on the mill not sure what I will find in his firewood piles, but his firewood logs are pretty nice turning stock.I hope to find something odd for all you pen nuts, but its hit or miss on finding anything real cool for pens.Bowls blanks are another story i will cut something not sure that is part of the fun when I don't bring out my trailer with my own logs.It will be nice to get out of this ugly city for a few days all this concrete can get to a man like me.Victor

Victor, the city will drain the breath right out of a person. While outside in the real world, take the opportunity to look up. Those bright spots in the heavens you will see are things called stars, something not seen in the big city. Take a blanket or quilt to throw on the ground, lay on it looking up and allow them to restore your soul while enjoying the good clean air of the country. Take a big deep breath of air and smell the odors of the farm. That is poop you are smelling. We call that fertilizer. Good to grow things in.

When you are at the sawmill if there is any dry 2-2 1/2 thick platter stock I would be interested in Also any pieces with tight bark for natural edge pieces. Can you also bring back a board of the quarter sawn oak that you said is superb.Might make the office desk out of it.Thanks and enjoy yourself.
