I tried something new today. I took an Aero tube and painted a picture on it, then cast it in Alumilite clear. It came out real cool. I have not had a chance to turn it yet...that's next.

Comments and so on, etc please.

I've tried casting a painted tube (not a picture, just a color for the background under a decal), but the paint bubbled...presumably from the heat. How did you prevent the paint from bubbling? I used Castin' Craft PR. Maybe Alumilite doesn't build up as much heat. I've wanted to try this by having my daughter paint some pictures on some tubes. Thanks for sharing.

be very gentle turning and pressing...delamination of the paint and alumilite is a very real issue. you may want to sand down the parts that will be pressed in and glue them to the tube rather than pressing. nice looking pic, hope it works!!!
