Hello all,

First, Happy Thanksgiving and spent the day trying something that my wife suggested trying. She wanted to know it I could turn an ornament for a meeting she has to go to on the 5th of Dec. So I tryed to turn some miniature finials and the white one in the pic is my second attemp. Now after that, I grabbed some pen blanks that I had extras of and went to town and I will say that I even amazed myself that I was able to turn something so thin without it breaking on my in the middle. I have with the finials, the tops for the hook on the ornament. I still have to drill the holes and get the blocks for the hollow bodys. Any ideas what would look good with each one. First time turning hollow vessels as well. So any tips would be greatly accepted.

Finials look great. Elegant. For the globe, definitely a light color wood like quilted maple or maple burl. Poplar can even look pretty nice. Holly can leave some other options like painting or other decoration since it is a plain grain wood.
