Thanks to all the helpful tips posted here on CA finish. I was finally able to apply a CA Finish worthy of earning a Pen kit to show it off on. Unfortunately, despite insuring it was aligned and the tube was clear of any glue or burrs, the end blew out while pressing on the tip.
The blank is Stabilized Buckeye Burl on an Officers Twist Pen kit. 12 coats of HF CA - i did not use accelerator. Finished with Micro Mesh followed by automotive compound and McGuires plastic polish.

Can't see the break . Nicely done pen !!!

If you can get stabilized buckeye the problem might be avoidable.

Now that you are onto the CA technique, it's really quite easy, isn't it ?

Took me a while before things came together for a beautiful finish, also.
