I made that same box last year. Your finish is way better. I used Danish Oil and I didn't really like how the end grain looked with it. I was so sick of that thing by the time I finished it! Way too much sanding. I used the Donjer flocking inside the compartments and I liked the way that came out.

I have an oscillating spindle sander and that helps a lot .
I made half a dozen or more of these boxes way back over 15 years ago and flocked the insides . I have ordered a new flocking kit and will do the insides of that one when it arrives .
