Here is my first pepper mill made out of walnut. I also made a mostly matching salt shaker. These were made to duplicate a set that my mom already had so she would have 2 sets.

Great job, you've hidden the twist joint well. Making things match is one of the hardest things to do in turning (IMHO anyway) specially when they have different mechanics.

Thanks for the comments guys,

It was a little tough to duplicate where my stock was a little skinner than the original and I only was able to go off my memory and the picture I snapped while at my parents house. I had a little difficulty with the lenth of the rod and had to drill the large diameter on the bottom deeper so the rod would fit out the top.

We call that SOP (Standard Operating Procedure).


Buy the 14" rod and cut it down to size, then peen the end. You'll never be "too short" again.[:D][:D][:D]
