My ten year old completed his first pen today! I helped out a bit but he did it mostly on his own.

Man another 10 year old making it look so easy and really putting us old farts in our place. ;) So good to see hobbies being passed down generations. Hope he does get the bug. May I make one small observation and make him a step platform so he gets tool lower. Other than that both have fun. I bet when he shows kids at school the orders start coming in. :):)

Yeah. He did need a little boost. The blank was an impulse buy. He asked if he could get it while I was at woodcraft picking up something else. I figured strike while the iron is hot. He'd probably have lost interest if I'd made him wait till we could get him a step stool or build him a plattorm.

My complements on getting him the blank and letting him turn it. If I may mention, get him some hearing protection as ear plugs or muffs. What is Santa bringing him this Christmas? I suggest his own turning tools instead of underwear.
