Nice going !!!

Your first is really special.

It takes a while to get the knack of doing a CA finish. . It's a skill that just seems to build up as you practice it and then, all of a sudden, it works !
It's a bit like learning to walk ... LOL !!

Nice job! I think CA finish is a personal technique. There are a 1000 ways of doing it. Thin for me only. 6 coats, sand with 1000 grit, 6 more coats and then MicroMesh. You'll find what works for you. Good luck!

Well, that is a good topic. My many layers of CA do you all use?
The first use just 3
The second was 8 - 4 thin and 4 thick

For me, an average of 7 layers I would say (I don't actually keep track).

And I use only THIN CA ..... just the way the finishing process developed for me. . Tried MEDIUM ...didn't like it ... for reasons now forgotten.

One of your displayed blanks is Wenge ....

I find Wenge somewhat difficult .... the grain is quite coarse and rather pronounced .... I find it hard to finish nicely. . With lots of CA it can be OK.

I would use the other blank for your next pen ... is it possibly Zebra wood ? . For future reference, Bocote is probably my favorite wood for pens.

Yes, the second blank is Zebrawood. My daughter likes that blank.
