First Closed End (Double) El Grande with Osage Orange

Well I received my closed end mandrels from Ariz. Sil and couldn't wait to try a closed end pen. So I grabbed an El Grande and made a double closed end with Osage Orange! Have not turned that before - sweet! This was kind of fun and perhaps a bit whimsical.:biggrin: The overall length is 6 1/2 in, capbarrel is is 2 3/8, barrel is 3 7/8

Nice pen Keith. The mandrel works good doesn't it? I don't understand why people think trying to wedge a tinny roller between a rod and a tube is a better way, when you can stick the whole mandrel in the tube and tighten a nut and be done with no small parts to loose.

Thank you. I tend to ageree with you - these asre so easy to use - maybe a little more expensive but my guess is worth it!
