First attempt at Fordite

My first "Fordite" blank. It's actually "Dodgeite". Turned it with sandpaper and it went really well. Reminded me why I don't do my own body and paint work anymore!

That turned out nice! The wrinkle pattern on the gear shift is the sort of thing that makes fordite such a cool material. Detroit agate is another term for it (esp when used for jewelry. I wish it wasn't so expensive.

Those turned out great! I'm sure your buddy will be trilled with either of them. I particularly like the gear shift one.

I've still got the other blanks I had posted if you want more now that the bug bit lol.

That's a very nice piece of Fordite nicely turned. How did you drill it and what tools did you use to turn it?
I drill on the lathe. 3/8ths brad point, slow speed and slow advance. Backed the bit out to cool about every 3/8-1/2 inch. Didn't use any tools, just sandpaper to final diameter.
