i am doing a pen for a relay for life action at work. i am planing on using a desert ironwood blank that i have had for awhile. my question is how do i do a ca finsh on the blank due to oil it has in it. i thought about putting on a few coats of thin ca then finsh up with several med ca coats. any info would be thankful

I wipe mine down with Accelerator first. Then apply 4 coats of thin CA with Accelerator between each coat, then 4 coats of med CA and a final rub of Accelerator. Sand down all shiny areas with 400 grit, the 600 grit, then MM your blank all the way to 12000, add 3 coats of auto wax, (I use Meguiars Paste Wax) then assemble your pen and your done. I hope this helps, Best of luck.
