Robert; I would consider a CA finish to protect the art. You can either finish to a high gloss or a more subdued satin finish with a final rub with 0000 steel wool. Classic nib is a good place to work with and i'm sure they could advise you.

One caution; Corian isn't very flexible. You do not want to crack the blank when pressing in the fittings. You may want to mill / grind / sand down the fitting until it is a slip fit and glue the fittings in with a drop of epoxy put on the inside of the tube. Don't put the glue on the fitting or it will squeeze out over the fitting and make a mess difficult to remove. DAMHIKT

Hello all,

I would like some advice on how to finish (or do I finish) a scrimshaw blank I bought recently from Classic Nibs. Here is what I bought:

Mechanical Scrimshaw - Schooner

By the way, the blank is beautiful...can't wait to put it together.

Robert

Sorry Robert I missed this, but Randy's advice is spot on. The only thing is I would use Lock Tite Red instead of Epoxy.
