IT goes ~ 1 inch. And no metal, just the PH dowel that locks it in.

The lady it is made for is 150lbs. I am 360. I leaned on it real good with NO flex. That is purpleheart for you.

Finish is fast drying poly. Buffed with the Beall buff

Don't know what possesed you to make this shape..but the craftpersonship is excellent..nice color contrasts..just so the customer is happy!!!
