Bought this about a month ago but just got to pick it up yesterday, 1951 Chevy Pick Up with 350 V8 and 700R auto tranny, had a new front suspension installed, still not liking the ride so thinking of ordering a Mustang ll suspension kit .

I told my wife I would sell all my woodworking stuff is she let be buy one of these. "Absolutely not. You buy the truck, then a month later, you would have all new woodworking tools too. No way."
No classic for me.:crying:

Wow Roy, that is fantastic. It looks fully restored already. Besides the suspension, is there anything left to do to it?

YAY Roy! I'm glad you finally got this truck. I see some Styling & Cruising coming in the near future. You deserve this truck. Congratulations!

Hmmmm, that's a bit more moxey than the 92hp 216cid "stove bolt" engine and 3 on the column transmission would put out?????? That model truck was a big hit in my home town with probably about a half-dozen of them around (out of maybe 12 or 13 pickup trucks total). At that time a new car brought most of the town out to see it but a new pickup truck brought everybody from town and most of the neighboring towns as well.

Great looking ride... I bought a 51 Chevy pu when I got out of the Air Force in 82. Worst mistake I made was selling it.

wwo roy what a truck. 1951 ford pickup was my very first bvehicle back in 1966. sure did not look like that though. beautiful truck.

I like it Roy!! I'm not sure it would ride any better with a mustangII suspension under it. Maybe you should just drop another $2500 and go for airbags:eek:. Does it have a carb or is it fuel injected?

Roy, I'm thinking Ernie hit on something on your suspension. Although the Mustang II front end is a good idea, the rough ride comes from the beefed up rear springs they used on those old trucks. They were made for farmers to haul there goods to the market, and bring a ton of feed back from the mill. Might check into those air bags. JMO

I know what you mean on the rought ride and that is pretty much taken care of with a better shock package and new rear springs, it's the handeling of the truck. This is the first street rod I've owned that the original front supension is still in with the exceptiption of 2 inch dropped spindels. These trucks as you said were made for the farmers with a stove 6 cyl. , not a 350 V8 with 350 or better horses, and not driven on todays super highways. A ll front supension will run ablout $3,000 installed.
