We have our Winners for the Marketing Photo Contest!!!!

I'd like to apologize for the delay in posting these results, but it took a little more time to work out the details on this one that I had planned, and my wife, 16 years ago yesterday, with NO REGARD for the fact that one day I may be asked to manage a contest on an online pen forum, INSISTED that that was the day she had to give birth to our first son... I tried to get her to hold off until April Fools, Day, or even a Leap Year, but she was in a pretty selfish mood at the time, and I'm sorry you had to bear the inconvenience of that... Believe me, counting votes in this contest would have been my preference over a 12 hour party with 30 teenagers!!!!

Man this one was interesting to work out, and a tribute to some of the FANTASTIC work that was entered!!! I decided that based on the way things worked out, I am awarding the top 3 places bast on total votes of all photos entered. I made this decision after consulting with Eric Rasmussen (Sylvanite) as he was the only person affected by the different tally system. Basing the contest entry photos individually, he would have received both 2nd and 3rd place, and I would like to publicly thank him for keeping the Spirit of the Bash and agreeing to allow me to tally the votes as totals!!!

In 3rd Place, Winning Instant Glues from Satellite City (valued at $40) & 1 Box of Blanks from edman2 (value at least $25)

RBcarving, with "pok22.jpg" & "bolts22.jpg"

Congratulations to all!!!!! As I said before, the entries this year really kicked the bar up in many ways. Very few of us here are professional photographers, but that would not be readily apparent to many who saw these photos!!!

Thanks for running the contest Todd. After looking at the entries, I was hoping to place, didn't think I would win. I didn't know it was Eric, but I was pretty sure that amboynastatesman was going to win. Ironic that many of the things I have learned about pen photography were from his posts! Thanks Eric and congrats to Brad as well!

Harry,

What's great about your photos, is that they tell a story. A single image shows the progression of turning, finishing, and assembling a pen. My photos may be pretty, but your concept was better - and it deserved to win. Congratulations.

Brad,

You did very will with thematic props. The playing cards and chips compliment the pen very nicely and should immediately draw any poker player's attention (despite the "dead man's hand", lol). I really like the use of monochrome playing cards. They fill out the frame nicely, yet they don't distract from the pen. Great job!

I put most of my effort into "Reflection in Blue". That was my intended entry. I threw in "Amboyna Statesmen" primarily as a bit of wood porn. That photo has some fundamental composition flaws, so I didn't expect it to do well - but then, sex sells

Thanks again to all who participated, those who voted, and especially Todd for running the photo contests. I'm sure it wasn't easy.

Sincerely,
Eric
