I'm FINALLY getting back into form again. Not being able to do any turning until just recently and then I couldn't do any casting until yesterday (weird I know, but it's all in how I do my castings:wink:). So before starting in on backed up orders I did some trial castings to get my feel and timing back. These first two pens are from yesterdays casting and the last two are ones I cast for the IAP contest but couldn't finish them before the due date :frown:

First we have a Blk Ti Aero with one of my blanks. I made an Oops by cutting the barrel too short so I added the black bands to compensate. It's actually clear resin with some pearl and then reverse painted purple.

This was my 2nd casting attempt. I got inspired by Mike's (IPD MR.) casting the other day and did something similar. I made the green WAY too bright to resemble a patina but overall I think it's really cool.

This was going to my Open Class entry for the IAP contest. Blk Ti Majestic with an acid green suspended animation blank. I reverse painted it black and turned a black replacement stone for the clip. This is the one I did in Atl in my demo on removing those stones and replacing them.

Last is the pen I wanted to submit in the Casting Class. This is a white suspended animation blank that I reverse painted black. It's on a Blk Ti Stretch FP. I tried to show the depth that it has in the photos but it's a hard thing to capture. Right now it has it's original nib but it will soon be replaced with a new shiny Bock nib as soon as I get them:biggrin:

Very Nice Johnathon!
I especially like the last two. Two bad you couldn't get then done a few days sooner!

Toxic looking on some of them Jonathon, but slick as always. I just tried my hand at casting some pearl-ex colors today and it looks a bit off, but we'll see how it looks when turned. I used some of the stuff I sent you so who knows..

Amazing pens as always!

All look really great, but the acid green does it for me Jonathon. The colors, the swirls, the depth, its got it all.

Welcome back! Glad your thumb is better. Looks like you haven't lost your talents. All of those are nice.

Beautiful work. I think that the Majestic is the most striking pen, but the suspended animation blank is the most interesting. All of them are exceptional.

Nicely done! Love the black and white. Better separation than a lucite blank I have. I tried my hand at PR casting the other day. Timing was waaaaay off. Makes me appreciate my Alumilite. You have definitely perfected the PR!

Wow,these look fantastic!

What does"reverse painting" mean? Do you paint the inside of the pen barrel before the tube is glued in?

All of your pens always look so cool!
Thanks for showing them.

Steve

Jonathon, You came back with a bang!!! Beautiful set of pens!! The Majestic
in Acid Green and the black and white one really stand out! Great pictures! Regards, Doc:smile:

Jonathon I only see 1 problem... NO WOOD! Oh yea it looks like you need to practice some more so you can send me the extras to "test" out for you...:wink::rolleyes:
