Until I solve the CA allergy problem, I am trying some alternatives that equal the speed and polish of CA.

Here is one that is fast and looks like the CA, but udoubtedly lacks the durability:

-Mylands sanding sealer sanded wet into a slush to fill pores.
-Sand through to wood and then sand and MM through all grits.
-White diamond buff.
-Flood with BLO and dry off.
-Apply 3 coats of sealer just like CA (no sanding netween coats).
-Apply Mylands friction polish.

It looks good, but I don't know how it will hold up.

Does anyone have any similar experience or comments about this?

Once you put the sealer on the effects of the BLO are lost.
Mylands has what is called a 3 step finish.
I used to use it a lot.
3 coates of cellulouse sandinfg sealer heated in with MM between coats.
3 coats of high build polish, also heated in
3 coats of carnauba wax.
Switch to a lacquer.

You could try the Enduro and the sanding sealer. I have gotten a better finish with it. It has no fumes. The only difference is that I wait over night for the sanding sealer to set and then one more night after the Enduro. The lack of fumes makes it worth it. Plus I got a better finish with just the sanding sealer than I did with CA. Once the Enduro was on and polished it was nice. I am going to stick with that one.

I ordered the Endure (and some low odor CA) and I'm waiting to try both. I hope I have the patience to wait 2 days for a finished pen [?]

Divide and conquer at it's finest!

I just looked through every article in the finishing forum and think I'm going to give this plexi finish a shot. It seems like it has the potential to be all the things CA is without offending my sinuses in the process. I've ordered some oderless CA just to see, also. I'm also going to get a respirator as I'm aware that acetone is some nasty stuff.

Terry's pics and Russ's hardness test have me very optimistic :)

I can't wait to hear how the plexiglass works out. And I didn't realize that there is odorless CA. I thought there was only low odor, until I checked the Bulk Buy website.
