Faux abalone Sierra

I promise after this I will slow down a little.

I believe many of you have seen my Headwind pen done with the faux abalone blank I poured. Here is the other half of that blank, this time on a Sierra style kit from Exotic Blanks (I believe it's the Ellipse Titanium Gold and Black Titanium).

The previous post had the blank mix, other than the correction at the bottom, so I will not repost it here.

In both cases, the tubes were painted black before gluing. Unlike the previous one though, this one has a lot more of the black swirl in it. Might be related to the order of how I poured them, so I have some more experimenting to do.

This one looks more like abalone to me than the others. I wonder if you could get more black lines using a comb of some sort. Nice pen!

Don't know how you'd stick a comb down in a 3/4 inch PVC pipe.

I wonder if I should add more black to the mix. right now it was 100/100/100/60 red/green/blue/black. Maybe have them all equal proportions.

Ah. I pictured a tray of resin cut into blanks. I agree I'm not knowing how to pattern resin in pipes.
