Turned a few gifts for family members this Christmas, here are a few. First up is a pair for my sons--maple tree cut on our property about 5 years ago, log was in our burn pile. Blanks were cut side by side, with the ornaments off the ends. So as their written words and signatures are made with their hands in touch with their roots.

Second group is a from an old Douglas Fir 1 x 8 rescued from my Dad's garage. Too twisted to use to make boxes, I turned pens for my 3 sisters. Celtic knot and center bands are mesquite, a slight tribute to John Wayne--Dad loved The Duke!! First attempt at center bands--all are different widths, not perfect but they worked.

Thanks to all of you for helping me get to this point.
