I really think the Faith, Hope & Love pens are neat and the general size and mass of them sit nicely to hand. I'm always to happy to make them. The blank for this one is Bethlehem Olivewood so it adds a little significance too.

The customer is intending for the pen to be a gift to a friend and really liked the look of the pen box also. It adds a nice touch.

I was able to get the grain to match quite nicely across the blank too. Sometimes that doesn't always work the way I'd like it to.

Everything was purchased from our fine friends at Exotic Blanks.

Looks Fantastic. What was your finishing

Looks Fantastic. What was your finishing procedure?
Thanks very much.

I turn the lathe down to around 750, sand using a progressive set of sandpaper or mesh sandpaper (depends on my mood) up to 600. I stop the lathe and sand in line with the axis of the lathe concentrating on removing any circular marks before going to the next grit. I use GluBoost for my finish, I use 7-8 coats total and kind of let the blank dictate if it gets regular, thin or ultra thin. Usually resin gets a couple ultrathin, couple thin and then 2or 3 regular. Wood blanks usually get just thin and regular. I use Dr Kirk's scratch free after that to start polishing. I crank the lathe up to 2300 or 2400 and then use and use all three micro magic polishing waxes.

I just saw tonight that Craft Supplies no longer calls their products Dr Kirks instead using the Old Mill Finish Co name?
