I'm glad you guys liked it. I made 5 more in different colors, but the photos are too high of a resolution and I'm lazy.

The secret is the Beall Penwizard.
I turned the blanks down to about 0.620" round, then faceted them on the Penwizard until about 0.480 width.
I then lap on a piece of granite, with 320, 400 and 600 wet sandpaper.
Then I use the Beall buffing system.

I do use a Foredom, because its easier to set the height.
 
Personally, I don't care for this kit but adding the faceted sides could change my mind pretty quickly. Nice job!
 
Nice looking pen, reminds me of the octagonal barrels on some vintage rifles and pistols.

This can also be done using a router on a sled using a depth guide and an indexable headstock.
