Well I have not got new glasses in about 6 years,I know that is crazy. My script really does not change it has been nearly the same since a child so I wear my glasses until they hurt me.Broke my nose piece so its time to stop being so cheap and pull the trigger on new ones.I bought my last pair at Sears due to me having a sears card but did not like the experience I had(so no more Sears). My cousin suggested Americas Best Eye Care, but i see you get two pairs of glasses and a check up for $70 seems to cheap to me are they just junk???I would like a second pair one for work and one for play, but want to get good glasses as I'm hard on them.Tell me your experience with the bigger chains if you have any.Thank you,Victor

I have had a bad experience with wally world back some years ago. We use a local eye care Business here in town, very good doc and his employees are top notch. They are not cheap, but with only having two eyes, dont want to take a chance on el cheapos.

I bought my glasses online for the first time and I'm very happy with them. 39dollarglasses.com
You have to know the distance between your pupils and the measurements of your glasses (just measure the pair you currently have.) There are other online retailers that I hear are better than the company I used. It was a big step for me, but saved me a LOT of money.

As long as the prescription is correct, buying more expensive frames will not help your vision.

Call your local eye doctor (the one that everybody locally trusts) and tell him or her that you need good glasses but want to pay the Wal-Mart price.

The good Doctors will explain why their glasses are better ( and they really are in some cases) AND my Doctor got close to the "cheapie" price because I gave him the opportunity to explain what makes his worth more.

The bad Doctors will just hang up on you. They are probabally selling the same glasses as Wal-Mart.

Do not go there had nothing but problems. Americas Best Eye Care ha a hard sell for all of their upgrades. When I got the glasses they broke within a month. I had no problem with the eye doctor in wally world. But each one is different. These are your eyes protect them.

My wife gets hers (and her contacts) from Costco. Great prices and a great eye doc at the one in Auburn Hills (I know that's about a 30 minute hike for you Victor!). From what i've heard, all the Costco docs are pretty good.

It could be worth checking out.

What kind of glasses? If you are looking for varifocal (no line bifocal) lenses, the absolute best I've ever had were the Kodak Unique progressive lenses. There is no sense of "bifocal." Everything is just in focus, and it has the largest reading area of any glasses I've ever had.
