experimental yo yo deemed sucess

starting with no more than an idea of how I might be able to possibly make a yo yo I set out to put it to the test, and this is what I ended up with. It's not as fancy as, say, a fancy kit that sleeps, but I have a functional curly maple/ dowel rod yo yo that is quite interesting.

the picture sucks though. I ended up making it on my pen mandrel

nice, but be careful as that may be considered a concealed weapon. (look up the history of the yo-yo)[]
