Hello all. I've been reading about these Microsoft Tags lately and wondered if any of you have thought about using them. If you've used them, what's been your experience with it? If you're familiar with them but elected not to use them, may I ask why?

I created a tag and thought about posting it just to aid in discussion but elected not to attach it for fear of any sort of rules infringement here on the site. If interested, I'm happy to email it to you so we could experiment.

Disclaimer: I DO NOT work for Microsoft, DO NOT have stock in Microsoft, nor am I a fanboy of Microsoft. Pen turning is strictly a hobby for me, but I'm also a gadget guy at heart and enjoy exploring the potential uses of technology like this.

Curious to hear your thoughts on it....

Best,
Mike

I have been playing around with QR Codes with ZXING (Zebra Crossing) instead. See Avatar.

The QR app I use is called Lynkee....I couldn't get it to scan your avatar, but I like the idea of using a QR code for one. I've heard of ZXING...maybe I should try it out.

Thanks for responding,
Mike

QR Codes...

I was able to scan your QR, Chuck Key. Leads me to the perfect collection!

I use a Tilt 2 from HTC and I-Nigma for reading the codes. Now, if I only needed my own code.......

I just read an article (I think on CNN) that more manufactures are leaning towards QR codes.

I need to research QR codes in more detail, but it's my understanding that they're "one shot, one kill," meaning they can't be updated without starting completely over, re-encoding, reprinting, etc....don't know if that's accurate, though. Fascinating technology, either way.
