After spending $350 on a coffee maker, I was angered (but not surprised) that the included tamper was cheap plastic. I went to work on making a better one. Tamper was from PSI, as was the acrylic blank.
I used stainless steel insert glued into the blank and turned with bottle stopper chuck. Finished with wet micromesh down to 12,000 grit then finally used EEE Paste. I like that the turned blank can be unscrewed from the base for cleaning or to be able to change the turned handle if I wish.

I believe they call that a, Tiger Paw blank. Looks beautiful!
Thanks Jon. The tamper that came with a pricey machine was junk. PSI sold tamper and I got that blank from them as well. I used a threaded insert in the blank so the handle and tamper unscrew for washing.
