Here's two small bowls I made for the heck of it. The golden, shiney one is West System 105 Epoxy we have at the cabinet shop, I just tossed in some gold pearl-ex pigments. Turned and micromeshed. Turns like acrylic acetate, stinks a tad less, and cost about $80 a gallon :bigeek: compared to the $30 locally for polyester resin.
This was leftover epoxy from some special glue-ups so it didn't cost nuthin but pigment.
The second is 100% urethane. It's basically automotive urethane, except it's ICA brand made especially for wood (more flexible). Once you add the catalyst, you have one hour to spray it, or it turns to jello. In a week it's a hockey puck. In a month or three it's hard enough in the center to turn a bowl out of. The easiest, creamiest stuff I've ever turned. Not even acetone or paint stripper gums this stuff up.
