Hi everyone new to woodturning and have really enjoyed making pen's have tried the Celtic knot design and made a pen out of aluminium round bar it really turned out great according to members of my local club. I would like to get some new ideas for different designs as in aluminium inlays. Any help would be great.
Many thanks.

You could try color anodizing aluminum like this one.

Also on this site, if there isn't a picture, it didn't happen.

The challenge in this one was keeping it together as I turned it. I had to re-glue a few times. Finished in CA, it's a price of locust root.

Or if you want to try some resin and aluminum segmenting.

Thanks, that was my entry to last summers resin pen contest.

The pen kit is a PSI Cortona in chrome, the blank is made by me.

This "Cortona Five Sided Twist Pen - Twisted" was created by segmenting Acylester Black and Silver (PSI), it's also used on each end.

A 1/8" groove was cut into the Amedeo Blue (Exotic Blanks) body.

After turning the blank down the desired diameter, I used my router/lathe to machine a five sided 1/4 turn twist.

That is awesome! If you would be so kind, the next time you make another pen like this one, please make a video, or take pictures on how you did this. Again, this pen is amazing!

I agree, I'm a big fan of this design - very different, very visually appealing. But I do respect if you want to keep some techniques close to your chest.
