I just delivered this Conservative fountain pen to a co-worker. The maple came from an old maple that was taken down in his front yard due to a highway expansion. He told me that him and his wife were sad to see the tree to go because it was only about 4" in diameter when they bought their house. About a month or so after the tree was taken down his wife suffered a heart attack and passed. He told me he knew without a doubt what he wanted to do with a piece of the tree.
