Make sure you search the archives - that's where a lot of Enduro info is (archives are accessed through an advanced search). My understanding is that Enduro takes longer, and is a little more trouble than CA. However, there aren't the fumes associated with CA, and the finish has a very different feel to it. MDWine showed off a tool handle he made recently with an Enduro finish, and it really felt nice in your hand.

I never tried Enduro, but from my discussions with wayneis, our resident Enduro expert, it takes a LOT longer than CA. I remember him telling that he was letting it cure for about 2 weeks before buffing. Applying Enduro might be easier, but it is definitely not faster.

It IS a lot longer than CA to apply and wait overnight between sanding sealer and again for the top coat to "cure" it isn`t for the impatient.
No fumes, no stuck bushings, I like Enduro give it a try you can buy small bottles from Ernie at BearTooth Woods which are quite inexpensive.[;)]

Here is the Link to the procedure to apply the enduro finish Developed by Wayneis.

I have been playing around with Enduro. It does take longer but it is not all that bad especially if you are making more than one pen at a time. Enduro is, in my opinion easier to get level and finishes easy and you get a super shine.

LOML (Dawn) decided that it was taking too long to wait and wait the prescribed times on the Enduro so, taking a cue from French Polish, she applied some sealer let it dry a minute, then burnished it with a paper towel. Lightly sanded w/600 grit and repeated the application and burnishing. Another sanding, then applied the finish, let it dry a minute and burnished THAT. Repeated the process a couple more times, with the last sanding using MM 3600 through 12000. Keep in mind we are in DRY Colorado so there is very little humidity in the air and things dry rapidly anyway. Everything seems to me holding very well...

Mark are you building the finish or sealing the wood amd making it shinny? I seems to me that doing it your way, it would take a lot longer to build a deep finish. Just curious.

We seem to get a good finish - at least (nearly?) as good as I was getting following the prescribed methods on some Jr. Gents. We're using the "Rags in a Box" folded the same way I was for a CA finish. I'm using scissors to get a fresh end every time while Dawn is still experimenting to see what method she likes. She DOES know that a gun patch is too small!

Dont like the fumes that CA produces.
Makes me ill.
Sometimes use it as a sealer but not very often.

I use an cheap air brush to apply Endro gloss finish in front of a filter fan setup.
After a coat of Endro sanding sealer and waiting an hour or so for it to dry I sand it smooth with 1000 grit.
Then I spray the gloss coat on until it is wet and smooth with a slight blushing look.
It touch dries in about an hour but will take days to harden properly and buff out with that wet look.
Thinng I like about Endro is that it cleans up with water, is non toxic, and the finish is thin.

Using the Endro sanding sealer with a paper towel as a base for Shellawax cream works well also.
Let it dry for about 5 min, use some EEE cream, and then apply the Shellawax cream.
It will come up to a real nice polish in just a matter of seconds.

I don't like the fumes either. I wear a Triton powered respirator when I turn and also when I apply CA. It works great, no burning eyes and no obnoxious smell.

Enduro is a way to spend $30 dollars and not get much for it. Any good water base poly will do as well. I am having good luck a first coat with thin CA then another thin CA and them MM to 12000 and then lacquer 3 to 4 coats

Hi people, One thing no one has mentions so far, Enduro does not give you that white haze patch that drived me nuts every other time I use CA. Yes it takes longer, but the finish for me so far, is fool proof.

Personally I don't like the plastic look of CA, and don't mind the wait of enduro. Actually it works for me, I can't do much during the week in the shop, so I finish a pen or 2 on the weekend. Then do the finish during the week. With enduro, I have several mandrels and bushings so I can swap between where I am in the progression of a pen.
