I brought Bálsamo back from El Salvador.
The Bálsamo tree (Myroxylon balsamum var. pereirae), known locally as El Bálsamo, is a towering hardwood that can reach 80–100 feet tall and is native to the coastal mountain region known as the Costa Balsamera. This remarkable tree produces a highly prized, aromatic resin with warm vanilla-like notes, traditionally used in perfumes, soaps, medicines, and even food flavoring.
For generations, El Salvador has been the world's primary source of true bálsamo resin, making this wood and its history a unique piece of the country's natural and cultural heritage.

Very elegant colors and grain. How did you get the wood through US customs?
I packed it inside both my luggage and checked my bags in in El Salvador, picked them up in Houston, rechecked them in and picked them both up here at home.

Plus I had a receipt from the mill where I purchased the wood just in case. Never had an issue.

All the wood i brought back.

They had a warehouse 2 blocks from here that was wall to wall, upto the ceiling and only enough space to walk. It was incredible!

Wrap it in your dirty underwear and they won't touch it.

I wanted to bring two large pieces of Guanacaste wood back from Costa Rica. I was worried about customs etc. The seller said "mesa" to which I replied "table". This was repeated several times until the light in my head went on. I said "mesa" at the airport and the customs guy said "Si - mesa". It worked in LA too, though I'll just buy my wood and have it shipped.

My 17 year old tackle box made from that wood.
