I was on ebay the other day and saw a 3/4" oval skew chisel at what I thought was a very decent price...turns out is was actually $.01 cheaper than what PSI is selling it for. I bid on it before I knew that, but a couple of hours before the auction ended, someone came along and bid more for it. That is when I went to the PSI site to see if it was still a good deal. To my surprise, this person had bid more than the retail price and the shipping charge was even more.

So, I lamented to my friends on facebook that there should be an ebay for stupid people or at least a way for us to send the store add showing the "winning" bidder that they paid more than retail for their item.

Well, today I received a "second chance" offer from ebay user "disorder". Now I'm totally skeptical of this because I think they just were trying to bid up the price of their item, then when I didn't take the bait they wanted to give me a second chance. I could be wrong, but I thought I would just share my esperience just in case you ever ran across this ebay user.

how much was their second chance offer?

and yes, I'd bet some shill bidding was taking place.

When Ebay started hiding the usernames of bidders several years ago, my ebay purchases on auctions went waaaaaaaaaaay down. Now I look mostly for buy-it-now pricing with the cheapest shipping.

Well at least you know where to go for a better price! :)

Personally, I like the larger 1" - 1 1/4" skews for pen-turning, just feel like I have better control over the larger tool than the small one.

The second chance offer, including shipping was exactly $.01 less than what PSI is selling it for. I would have initially been happy getting it at that price, because I didn't even realize PSI sold this chisel. Now, I'd rather buy from PSI than from an ebay merchant that I think might have been trying to scam me.

Actually though, I'm leaning more towards the 1/2" round skew chisel, this isn't for pen turning but for turning bottle stoppers. I am sure many of you have seen what Ed Davidson "Yo Yo Spin" uses for this, I just could never bring myself to grind off one of my Robert Sorby chisels for this purpose.

I have purchased from Disorder before, very trustworthy he has never screwed me over. You can trust him

And I am not disorder, I would state mine but me thinks it would a no no far as the rules go.
